What makes you collect football tops; plus, which one was the first and why?
I always loved the old game; my first memories of football came during the World Cup in France 98 watching players like Ronaldo, Zidane, Batistuta, Suker, Maldini….a massive list of great players for me without dubbing the best generation.
One of the things that most impressed me during this competition was the football kits or tops…the colors and how they looked on the players….and then I know, I know that I wanted to have one of them.

So, on every Christmas and birthday till I was eighteen I
asked for one, only one; with the result of getting as present stuff like trousers, underwear,
books, movies or something else…not take me wrong…I loved all the presents, but I
always wanted a football top.
Then finally on my eighteen birthday, I got one… as a
present from my friends…the home top from Liverpool Fc season 2006!!!

What a present….; plus, also what a mistake because after that came the snowball of football tops that have finished in a collection that occupied space in my home and also my mom’s (consequence of leaving abroad); but also, that gives to me a lot of memories about trips, football games, friendship and a nice passion that I know I share with too many people around the world.
So, is for that if you are reading this blog, I guess you share part of this passion; so, I ask you to please share your memories about what made you collect football tops; plus which one was the first?
I only watch either World Cup or Euro Cup and every time it's an amazing experience. So Poland top was my first one and of course with No 9 Lewandowski 🤘⚽
ReplyDeleteVery Interesting learning about different football tops.
ReplyDeleteInteresting blog. I still have some from Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United. 😊😊
ReplyDeleteVery good.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with 4 brothers and I played football when I was younger too so I can totally relate to the excitement of the World Cup! I never collected football tops but I did collect the SPL football trading cards and had them organised into a binder, as I did with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards too. Good blog post Javi!
ReplyDeleteGreat read and very relatable! My first football jersey was a pre 2010 Brazil feature with Ronaldinho on the back. I buy all three Real Madrid jerseys each season for superstitious reasons, but I also have jerseys of teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Elche and more.
